I am having a Christmas fundraiser to build a school and buy land for Evans Primary School in Sierra Leone West Africa. The children are orphans who lost family during Ebola and covid19 crisis. They are cared for Pastor James Ndamah and his church in Sierra Leone
In 2015 I managed an ebola treatment unit in the jungle of liberia then later worked in ebola treatment unit in sierra leone. Later I managed a Health Project and met the children, teachers and Pastor James
I saw the poverty first hand, many people still have no housing, food, fresh water, electricity or toilet. Evans Primary School is a tin shed leased on military land where 275 children of all ages are taught in one room. The children are keen to learn but this is is very hard in a small space
I was orphaned during the Vietnam war and left in a box in the streets of Saigon, thousands of children lost families. I was severely malnourished and told I would be deaf, have no teeth, had mental incapacity and was left to die several times. Fortunately I was adopted to Australian parents who have given me so many opportunities
One 10yr girl at Evans Primary School said "people say orphans are nothing but I am not nothing. Education is important I want to be the first lady so i can be independent and help other orphans." Let's build a school and help these children be our future
Raffle tickets will also be available from my friend Jared's cafe 16th-24th December https://thehenchman.com.au/
Happy to support
