About

Scotty was a much-loved son of Queensland’s outback. Better known as ‘The Barefoot Bush Poet’ over recent years for his heartfelt bush poetry and storytelling as part of a Longreach tourism experience, he touched many lives and inspired tourists to value the outback and its heritage. He also dedicated many hours to fundraising for local charities.

He suffered from prostate cancer but never let it define his life, so his family have chosen Man-Up for Prostate Cancer, the awareness and support charity, as the recipient for donations in his memory.

Scotty will be much missed in Longreach and beyond but his legacy will live on in making a difference for better prostate cancer outcomes in future.

ManUp for Prostate Cancer Qld

Is a community based organisation dedicated to providing education, awareness and support for men affected by prostate cancer. It was established in response to the need for dedicated prostate care nurses in hospitals throughout Queensland.

My sympathies and condolences to Scotty's family, friends and work mates in losing him to the devastation of prostrate cancer. Even a couple of months earlier he was performing so I hope his passing was peaceful.
