From the mud emerges the lotus

Hi, we’re Emma, Tyson and Baby River. We’re a young family living in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Our region was hit earlier this year by catastrophic floods, twice, and as a result, we now don’t have a home. The flow on effect from these floods will be felt for years to come. In an area where housing was already scarce there is now an overwhelming amount of displaced people looking at a long road ahead to rebuild entire communities.

After evacuating our home in the dead of the night, camping on a hill with our baby (and chickens) in tow watching flood waters rise around us not knowing if we would or wouldn’t make it out, it’s safe to say we’ve reassessed what’s important in life.

This isn’t a pity party. We don’t believe in wallowing in a victim state. We are empowered individuals with a very clear mission and we invite you to join us and support our vision for a way forward.

For the last 2 years our country has been divided but this community is now showing what community in action looks like, how unity creates a sense of belonging and that when people step into their hearts magic happens. We want to spread that magic around.

So, what’s our plan?

Our plan, with your support, is to turn this rusty old bus into a home on wheels for our little family to live in. This will ensure some sort of housing security which is important to us as parents and will give us a space to create from.

Once we are set up with a place to live, the magic will be spread.

Our little bus will then take us around the country offering community yoga and meditation events. These events will be an opportunity for people to come together and remember the power of community. To reconnect with themselves and one another. To be reminded of the human spirit and how prioritising our mental wellbeing creates a flow on effect to all areas of life. A percentage of proceeds from these events will be directed straight back to grass roots initiatives to help the Northern Rivers Rebuild.

How?

Both of us are yoga and meditation teachers as well as fitness instructors. Prior to the events of the past two years we ran retreats and events around the world sharing ways for people to create a life in flow. We also do this through our online studio Flow States Studios, but we truly feel that in-person offerings are what's needed now. We need to reclaim our humanity. We need to be reminded that we belong, that we are connected and that we can grow together as a community.

So here’s the plan…

We are asking our community to help us fund all stages of this process. From the bus to the events. We will be sharing the entire journey with you all online so you can see with full transparency where your money is going and be a part of the journey with us.
