In Australia, organ donation is an "opt in" situation. To become an organ donor, you need to join the Australian Organ Donor Registry; State based driver’s license donor registries no longer exist.
Organ donation can save the lives of many people. Around 1,850 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant.
In Australia, family members will always be asked to confirm the decision of organ donation. That is why discussing your decision with family and friends is so important.
My husband Max is a transplant recipient so this is a cause that is very close to my heart.
You can't take your organs with you when you die so why not register to donate and help give other the gift of life?!
