As a Mum battling Stage 4 Bowel Cancer, with a four year old child, and an incurable and terminal prognosis, Love Your Sister is a charity that is very close to my heart - and that of my family and friends.

My diagnosis came out of the blue in April 2020, right when COVID was starting to really spread across the planet. I had a horrendous stomach pain at work one day, and after painkillers did nothing to alleviate it, I called an Ambulance and went to ED.

The next morning, I had an ultrasound and CT scan. That afternoon, I was told that I had cancer, and it was everywhere. It was terminal, and the Doctor was sorry.

Having lost my own Mum to Bowel Cancer in similar circumstances in 1988 (I had just turned 11, she was just 50), my first thought was of our daughter, who was just two years old at the time. How the hell could I beat this, so that she wouldn't have to grow up without a Mum like I did?

I've now had 37 chemo treatments, a week of high dose radiation, two liver TACE procedures, and I'm on my third line of chemo drugs. I'm inoperable, still incurable and still on palliative chemotherapy.

BUT I REFUSE TO GIVE UP.

Samuel and the Love Your Sister Team are raising funds for scientific research, targeted therapies and genetic testing - FOR ALL PEOPLE, WITH ALL CANCERS.

I am incredibly passionate about raising an obscene amount of money for Love Your Sister, before my eventual demise. I like to think that demise date will be around age 85, but given that I am already 20 months past my "best before date", and my previously stable liver tumours went from quiet to riot in the space of a couple of months - I may not get to the year 2062.
