About
The ‘Slava’ Exhibition was created to raise not only awareness about the conflict in Ukraine, but also funnel life saving donations to those currently impacted by this unjustified war.
Nearly 15,000 kilometres away from the warzone it is difficult to know how we can help from Australia. While the faces and stories of the Ukrainian people flood our televisions, radiowaves and social media, not all methods of donation and support are made equal.
The brutal and indiscriminate nature of Russian aggression has forced many well-known international aid organisations to evacuate to safer regions or neighbouring countries – leaving the communities most devastated by the war which need the most support on their own.
Thankfully, local Ukrainian NGOs and Aid organisations have continued to operate in even the most dangerous regions of the conflict zone, with nowhere to evacuate to. Australian photojournalist Samuel Eder has chosen 3 Ukrainian and one European organisations who remain steadfast in supporting the people of eastern Ukraine in this time of unprecedented chaos. These include Vostok SOS, Corporation of Monsters, the 24.02 Fund and the Halo Trust Foundation.
All funds will be equally divided between these organisation, and transferred at the end of the exhibition. More info on the chosen organisations can be found below.
Having documented the effects of the war in Ukraine’s eastmost state of Donbas during 2019 and 2020 Samuel had selected groups which are primarily active in the war-ravaged region. Eight years after Russian aggressors first attacked Ukraine, Donbas is back at the centre of this conflict, as Russia launches a new offensive trying to seize control of the historically divided region following the failed attack on the country's capital.
Thank you for visiting the Slava Exhibition, and supporting the people of Ukraine in whichever way you chose. Let this unjustified war remind us that we are not as separated and distant from the atrocities of history as we might think. And let us be grateful of our sovereignty here in Australia.
