About
Over 4 days of Easter I will be making one Pysanka a day to raise funds for the Ukrainian Crisis Appeal to provide critical humanitarian relief for Ukrainian people and communities affected by the Russian Invasion.
WHAT IS PYSANKY:
A Pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter Egg, traditionally gifted to others to demonstrate friendship, well wishes and a desire to protect those against harm. Pysanky (plural) are made over several hours using a wax resistant method. Each intricate pattern, symbol and colour is imbued with a specific meaning.
My Ukrainian Aunty who taught me this tradition would host Pysanky making days with her friends every Easter; a space for gentle meditation and friendly chatter. My family continues to gather to maky pysanky each Easter and it is a tradition I will carry with me into the future.
PYSANKY FOR PEACE:
In 2022 I want to share this tradition with you to raise critical humanitarian aid for Ukrainian people and communities affected by the Russian Invasion.
I will create one Pysanka a day over the 4 days of the Australian Easter. The creation of each Pysanka will be live-streamed and, whoever contributes the largest donation that day will be gifted the Pysanka.
It is believed that while making a Pysanka you are in a meditative state of love, sending your prayers and wishes to those you intend to gift the egg. This year, I will create Pysanky for my friends and family in Ukraine, as well as all Ukrainians around the world, imbuing each egg with love, courage and a desire for peace.

Beginning of Live Stream: 10am each day, link shared via Facebook page.
Duration of Live Stream: Variable – each Pysanka takes upwards of 3 hours (some have taken 14 hours).

When can you donate?
Up until April 24th (Ukrainian Orthodox Easter)
How much should I donate?
Any amount!! Every dollar, no matter how small or large is going to an incredibly important cause.
What about the daily donation competition?
Whoever donates the largest amount by 9pm (Brisbane time) on any given day will be gifted the Pysanky made that day. The winner will be announced via the Facebook page the following morning (but can remain anonymous if they prefer).

Funds donated to the My Cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to Ukraine Crisis Appeal. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
