Thank you for taking the time to read this and donating to this great cause.
I have recently signed up to drag myself around the Canberra Marathon (42.1km) on the 10th of April with the purpose of raising money, awareness and support for Jenny Naylor - a wonderful family friend and nurse recently diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma cancer. Jenny has given her professional life to helping others in need as a nurse at the Canberra Hospital and it only seems fitting that we come together as a community and share our support for her while she navigates such a difficult time for her and her family.
With limited treatment options available and an uncertain future I am attempting to rally you all together to donate as much as possible to give Jenny and her family an opportunity to share some incredible memories together. Jenny, her husband Dave and her three children deserve our support at this time and more importantly they deserve a break. This is a very personalised fundraising push, where all the monies raised will go straight to Jenny and her family.
My intention is to show our support in every way possible, but mainly in fundraising as much as possible to help send them on an amazing trip away. I have a humble target of $5000, but I know how generous we all are so I expect to overshoot that by a country mile. I would love your support to get me over the line, and if we smash my target and reach $15000 I vow to wear only a pink tutu on the run - that has to make you want to give! So please think about donating today, even if it's a small amount - anything will mean the world to Jenny and her family.
If anyone reading this has contacts with travel agencies (or any business really) that would like to get involved I'd love you to get in contact with me to see what we can organise in the way of vouchers etc. Any support is welcome.
Thank you for all your support - I look forward to seeing a lot of you at the finish line in Canberra if you can make it! James
