Type 1 Tia’s first Half Marathon - May 2022

I have had type 1 diabetes for 15 years now. I would never wish it on anyone but I am forever grateful for the strong and empowered person it has made me. I am running this as a way to advocate for access to medical devices including the Omnipod Dash which is a life changing device that is financially not an option for most. This device should be an option for all (currently there is no funding at all) and CGM
Access has been promised but no start date actually given. Most of all i hope to empower those around me by sharing my story.

T1 is a 24/7 condition and I will forever be grateful for everyone that has helped me through the good and bad days to make me who I am.

I am training so that in November 2022 I am going to run the Melbourne Marathon Festival Half marathon ?

Type 1 can happen to anyone - it could be you, it could be your child, it could be your best friend. Type 1 cannot be prevented but we need to advocate for support and change so that we can manage it to the best we can with technology like Continuous Glucose Monitoring and access to new technology like Omnipod which together cost me more than $10000 a year. I didn’t get a choice but I can choose to make a difference.
