Thanks for visiting my Fundraising Page for T1F Running Group- Melbourne Marathon festival!
As crazy as it sounds, I have signed up to complete a half marathon. That's 21.1km of running. I am a 42 year old, busy mum of 3, and certainly not a runner. This journey has been challenging, both physically and mentally, yet also personally rewarding.
Why am I running a half marathon? I am running for my beautiful boy Harvey. Harvey was diagnosed with Type 1 in January 2019, age 8. Type 1 is an auto immune disease. It is a life changing diagnosis which requires 24/7 management. To see how bravely Harvey manages Type 1 has given me the inspiration and motivation to commit to this half marathon. If Harvey can't give up, then neither can I.
I am running to raise funds for the Type 1 Foundation. The Type 1 Foundation is an amazing charity, very close to my heart. In the months after Harvey was diagnosed, I felt so lost and alone, even though we had some amazing people in our lives who gave us so much love and support. That was until The Type 1 Foundation came into our lives and introduced us to the Type 1 community.
The Foundation raises awareness, provides support and connects individuals and families touched by Type 1. It advocates for those living with Type 1. The Foundation sends out care packages to newly diagnosed children, provides a platform to reach out to ask questions and obtain support, and connect those with Type 1, so they don't feel alone. The Foundation host some amazing family fun days and Type 1 camps. The Type 1 Foundation sponsored Harvey to attend camp. It was such a wonderful experience and Harvey met other kids who were just like him.
Raising funds for this amazing foundation, is a small way I can give back.
Your donation will be much appreciated.
Yay! Amazing effort Renae!!!!
