Welcome to Team “Rise and Shine”.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for BulldustNBack 2021! On September 9 We will set off on a four-day motoring adventure through WA's South to raise money for charity.
Inspired by Scott’s son Spencer who at the age of two was diagnosed with “Anaplastic Ependymoma” which is an aggressive brain tumour, we have decided to join this years “Bulldustnback” to support kids cancer.
Immediately after the mass on Spencers brain was detected at the regional hospital in Bunbury he was flown to Perth on the RFDS and was scheduled for urgent Brain surgery.
After 8 hours of surgery Spencer spent 24 hours in ICU and later moved to recovery, he had to learn to crawl, walk and talk all over again.
The next 8 months involved a grueling treatment program which included 33 sessions of Radiation to Spencers Brain, each session under general anaesthetic, followed by 4 months of intense Chemotherapy.
Currently Nil Evidence of Disease. Spencer is almost 8 years old and continues to inspire us every day. With the side effects of surgery, treatments, follow up scans and appointments a daily reminder of his journey.
Motivated by Spencer, his amazing friends and the families we have met and shared this journey with, we have decided this year to raise funds for the Kids Cancer Project. An amazing organisation who’s mission is, “To support bold science that has the greatest chance of clinical success to improve childhood cancer treatments.” Together with their long term vision “to see a one hundred per cent survival rate for children with cancer while eradicating the harmful impacts treatment can bring.”
Founder Col Reynolds “My promise is to never give up until every child survives cancer with minimal or no long term effects.”
We could think of no better beneficiary.
Scott and Chris vow to “Rise up and Shine” for the kids currently fighting this disease and the many more that will inevitably endure similar battles.
Please dig deep and donate to support this cause that effects so many children. Spencer and his oncology friends thank you……..
