Welcome to the Kids Cancer Support Group Fundraising Page for BulldustNBack 2021!

We are so grateful for your help in supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer. Our committee here at KCSG are passionately driven and committed to supporting the children and families in our community and for good reason. We have all had a child who has been diagnosed with cancer and we know how much community and peer to peer support is needed. We get it and we understand better than anyone where those funds are needed, how much they are needed and the incredible impact they could have.

KCSG is run by Richard Nell, the KCSG President, who knows first hand how essential our support services are.

Richard's son Kai was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in March 2015. Kai was 2 years old when his family were told he had cancer. Kai underwent four vigorous rounds of chemotherapy and spent 7 months as an inpatient at PMH, in a small isolation room. He went on to have a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor.

11 months later Kai's cancer came back aggressively. Once again he went through another 6 months of treatment in isolation due to being so severely immune compromised, more intense rounds of chemotherapy and another bone marrow transplant with his little brother being his bone marrow donor.

Sadly, once Kai had completed transplant, his cancer came back very aggressively. Two days before Christmas he was sent home on palliative care as there were no more treatment options available to him. Kai passed away on 12th January 2017 three weeks before his 4th birthday.

Richard has since dedicated his time and made a lifelong commitment to making a difference for other families. He believes wholeheartedly in KCSG and the impact the charity could have on the childhood cancer community in WA. Your donations couldn't be in better hands and will go exactly where they are needed.

A little about KCSG....

Kids Cancer Support Group is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting, supporting and enriching the lives of children diagnosed with cancer and other blood disorders at Perth’s Children’s Hospital. We are an NGO approved charity and actively support families on and off the ward.

We are a local Perth based charity run by parents/caregivers and receive no government funding.

We provide tailored, practical and peer to peer support that meets the specific needs of the families. Our support is all encompassing. We are inclusive of the whole family starting at diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.

We hold events on and off the ward for families, provide food and fuel vouchers, pizza nights for the kids on the ward, seasonal events for kids in hospital including Halloween, Easter, Christmas activities and movie nights. KCSG stock the kitchen on the ward so families have access to food and good coffee and don't need to leave their child's bedside. We provide arts and crafts for the ward and our weekly Galdiators Toy Trolleys and essential items rounds are a huge hit with the kids. KCSG gift bags are individualised bags of toys and crafts for the children who are doing it tough. We hold our annual 'KCSG Santa photos' for the immune compromised kids who are unable to visit Santa in shopping centres.

Beyond treatment we provide ongoing practical and emotional support for families. We hold events for Mums, Dads, teens, Grandparents, Sundowners, Comedy nights and coffee mornings. We provide counselling support for bereaved siblings and ongoing emotional support for families who have lost a child.

Our much loved KCSG house provides families and kids with a safe place to visit, a place to find support and information and connect with other families. It's a home away from home and a refuge, somewhere to drop in for a cuppa and chat with someone who really 'gets it'.

We do much more but there is so much more we would love to do with your help!

All the dads on our KCSG Bulldust n Back team are oncology dads who have had a child diagnosed with cancer. You can sponsor us and leave a message for the dads by selecting the donate button with the knowledge that 100% of your donation will go towards supporting families where it is needed most.

Thank you for supporting us and WA kids impacted by cancer! It really will make the BIGGEST difference to our community x
