About
Hello everyone,
I am doing my first 2Km Open water swim this year, at the World Series Swims Cooly Classic, raising awareness and funds for The Cathy Freeman Foundation.
This organisation works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children (and families), at 4 of the most remote communities in Australia. These are Palm Island QLD, Woorabinda QLD,, Wurrumiyanga NT, Galiwin’ku NT. This organisation employs local indigenous and Torres Strait Island staff to deliver educational programs to children from pre-prep to year 12. The staff work one on one with students in the classroom delivering workshops that cover themes such as dreams and goals, role models, confidence and resilience, and celebrating culture. The Cathy Freeman Foundation’s goal is to inspire children to realise their own gold medal journey, one like that of legendary sprinter Cathy Freeman.
Education is something every child should have access to in Australia, so let us make it happen! The goal is set at $200✅
Murrup (Community Spirit Foundation) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that partners with remote communities to design and deliver place-based programs that support children and young people, and their families, through their early years, school journey and beyond.
