North East Residents and Farmers Inc. have been campaigning now for five years to save the North east Rail line from Scottsdale to Lilydale from wanton destruction by Dorset Council and conversion into a cycle trail. This is not supported by a strong majority of north east residents, particularly the ratepayers of Dorset.
The railway line has been assessed as 95% fir for purpose by one of Australia's foremost national track inspectors. It is certainly not derelict.
our fight has escalated to another level since Dorset Council submitted a Development Application seeking the rail line's destruction. Amongst the residents and farmers affected by the proposed cycle path and, for the 600 members of L&NER and 360 members of NERAF, the skills to successfully oppose this Development Application is a bridge too far. Accordingly, legal council is a necessity and the funds raised will assist in meeting these costs. Your support is respectively solicited. Tourist and Heritage rail is a great tourist boost in other states and overseas, providing jobs and income for local providers.
Thank you for your dedication to this important project.
