The NSW Government has just announced it will phase out our world-famous 1100-passenger double-ended Freshwater-class ferries, starting early 2021. The plan is to replace them with 400-passenger commuter-style, faster Emerald-class ferries, but we already have a great fast commuter service from NRMA Fast Ferries. Large ferries have served Manly since 1850 and are a major tourist attraction. The fleet must be kept in service.
We are raising funds to run a community campaign to:
1. Cancel the decision 2. Ensure the scheduled maintenance program for these ferries continues 3. Call for a proper Fleet Replacement Plan which included double-ended 1000+ passenger ferries on the Manly route. 4. Investigate converting the classic ferries to electric engines.
We need your financial support to SAVE OUR MANLY FERRIES!

My Dad would catch the train from Blaxland Blue Mts in the thirties, catch Manly Ferry and enjoy the Manly Harbour pool wheel. Very special memories

The Freshwater ferries are part of the history and charm of both the harbour and Manly. They are the embodiment of the many sayings implying that ‘To journey hopefully is better than to arrive.’
