About a month ago our beautiful greyhound Phoenix was travelling with my husband and I in the car. She was harnessed in, however the emergency breaks in my car came on in order to avoid a collision and threw Phoenix from the seat into the back on the centre console.
The impact of her hitting the centre console damaged her growth plate causing her paw to begin to turn out.
After a visit to specialist, it was deemed that surgery was necessary to correct her outward facing paw to bring it back into line. As she has just turned 1, this is no longer a quick and simple surgery, but instead a complex procedure where her bone will need to have a wedge cut out and a t-blade put in to straighten out the outward facing paw.
Not being people to normally need to turn to crowd funding for this kind of thing, we have hit a financial snag due to me losing my job because of covid and now having to care for my husband full time as he is wheelchair bound after suffering a spinal injury 11 years ago and has recently needed surgery to correct a tendon issue in his wrist, making it difficult for him to get around on his own.
We love Phoenix, she is our world and the best dog we have every Owned. We want only the best care for her and for her to have the best life moving forward.
Every bit helps and we would love it if anyone can help.
Our claim with our pet insurer has been declined as they said she was not covered for bone issues, we are still fighting with them for approval, however it’s not looking great :(
We appreciate every bit of support for this beautiful and playful pup.
Odin has been saving up for a few weeks to help his sister. Get better soon xx
