*UPDATE* Finally the weather gods smiled and I was able to complete the everesting on 8 November!
COVID has given us all a taste of what it is like to have our freedoms restricted. Imagine for a moment being a 10 year old boy who lives with this daily.
Ryan is a gorgeous young man who goes to school with my son. He suffers from muscular dystrophy and as a result needs an electric wheelchair for his mobility. Unfortunately, because the family doesn't have a suitable vehicle to transport the wheelchair (its big!) it has to live at the school, severly limiting Ryan's mobility at night and on weekends.
We are raising money to help equip the family with a suitable vehicle. In total we need to raise over $40k and I am being ambitious and shooting to raise $25k.
On 8 November I'm going to "everest" for Ryan. This is a cycling pursuit that involves riding up and down the same piece of road continuously until I've climbed 8,848m (the height of Mt Everest). I'm doing this in the hope that it will inspire people to support this cause for a gorgeous young man.
[Note: mycause does not charge platform fees, they fund themselves through asking for a contribution when you donate. Completely up to the individual - when you go to donate there will be a tick box that says "I would like to add $x to cover fees" - simply check it on or off depending on your preference.]
Thank you for caring - and well done!
