Beyond sight
Raising funds to support the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Why is East Loddon Merino Stud donating the proceeds to this charity?
In October 2019 Marcus and Cass’ son Jack was diagnosed with a very rare form of childhood cancer, Retinoblastoma. Over the past 10 months Jack has been treated at the Royal Children’s Hospital for this disease. Fortunately, Jack is now free of the disease. To do so, Jack paid the sacrifice of loosing his right eye after multiple life-threatening complications with chemotherapy treatments. Jack will continue to lead a healthy, happy and adventurous life all thanks to the wonderful treatment and care from the staff in the Oncology and Ophthalmology departments of the RCH. If it was not for them, Jack might not be here with us today. Jack will continue to be under the care of the RCH until he is at least 18 years of age with regular visits over the next 3 years.
Beyond Sight was established in 2001 by a group of parents whose children were diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a type of cancer of the eye. Funds donated to this auxiliary go towards medical diagnostic equipment and educational tools to assist families when their child is diagnosed with Retinobalstoma. 100% of proceeds goes to the auxiliary to buy equipment, 0% goes towards operational/administrative costs.
