Firstly, we would like to provide our condolences to all those affected in this tragic incident.
Alawi Youth Melbourne would like to fundraise a substantial amount to help the families of victims who were affected by this disaster alongside provide new equipment to the fire department. There are over 700 members in the Beirut Fire Department of Karantina.
On the 4th of August 2020. Fire fighters were ordered to respond to a suspected fire at a fireworks warehouse. Upon arrival 3 men from the crew that was first on sight where seen trying to forcefully open up this container, moments after that photo was taken, Beirut, as we know it was no where to be seen. At 6pm, a fatal explosion took the city by storm, approximately 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate had exploded through the city, this blast was equivalent to a magnitude 4.5 earthquake explosion in the city of Beirut, Lebanon, killed more than 100 people and flattened nearby buildings, sending shock waves more than 250 kilometres (150 miles) across the ground.
