This pandemic has been devastating for our Tanzanian safari guides, airport drivers, cooks, bookings personnel, facilities, security and mechanics; many of whom heavily rely on tips and safari related allowances to look after their (often extended) families. Given that June to October is normally peak safari season, and the fact that schools have returned last week (so schools are demanding school fees to be paid etc), their families are really suffering as no-one had thought (or budgeted for) a "no tourist season" this year. Sadly there is no government welfare system in Tanzania so people have to rely on the compassion of others to get by. Over the past month I have seen how people connected to our safari operations have been suffering and so I decided to create this page in order to get some funds directly to them and their families in a bid to help them get through the next several months as we don't expect any tourists this year. I acknowledge that this is a worldwide pandemic which most likely has affected you personally, but anything you can give will make a huge difference and be SO much appreciated here in Tanzania. $100AUD for example will help support and feed a family for a few weeks! Forgive me if this is unexpected but I am finding it hard to not at least try and do something for them and their families. 100% of the funds received will be distributed to our Tanzanian staff and feedback given. Please help me and forward this to others within your network who maybe interested in helping others at this time. Appreciate your support as it means a lot!
Lend a hand to our Tanzanian safari related workers who have not had any work (and therefore tips or daily allowances) since end of March due to the 2020 safari season being completely decimated.
Sadly there is no government welfare system in Tanzania.
