WHY IS THE DESERT CROSSING DIFFERENT THIS TIME?
Previously Andy Herd, Managing Director of ATEK, took on the expedition accompanied by 40 other off-road motorcycle riders and supported by emergency services personnel who travelled alongside the riders carrying fuel and supplies. The trip was over six days.
UNSUPPORTED
This time Andy will be part of a team of just four riders who will travel alone and unsupported to complete the crossing in just four days.
All supplies, fuel and medical gear must be carried solely by the rider with no support in toe.
The challenging desert is the world’s largest sand dune desert with well over 1100 dunes. The team will be travelling over 840km in just four days to raise as much money as possible for an excellent cause.
SUPPORTING MENTAL HEALTH WITHIN OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT
The first half of 2020 has been extraordinary in terms of the increased challenges faced by our Law Enforcement officers.
Whilst mental health is such an important consideration at any given time in these roles, it is now more important than ever to show our support for those on the front line of these unprecedented challenges. It has been demonstrated almost weekly that our officers are increasingly subjected to abuse and disrespect at the hands of those they are enlisted to protect and serve.
For this reason ATEK believes it is imperative to support our Law Enforcement and raise much needed funds in order to protect the health and well being of those who are on the streets daily to protect ours.
