Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Delia Pascau-McGlew and I’m a passionate advocate for providing education to all children in the Philippines.
A problem exists where the impoverished and underprivileged children of the Philippines cannot obtain reasonable education, children deserve the best opportunity at life and having grown up in the Philippines it has been a life long ambition to be able to improve the educational conditions in the Philippines and that is the reason I’m reaching out for help.
Six years ago, my husband and I started building OzPhil College of Cavite, Inc. The school opened and firstly operated with 10 classrooms and toilets. To be able to cover costs of those children living in poverty, the school accepts fee paying students which then assists in subsidising the non-fee paying students.
The school is strongly focused on students gaining the necessary academic standards, social skills and values to become valuable global citizens able to confidently seek employment and to contribute to communities anywhere in the world, not just the Philippines.
To build the student’s confidence in engaging with people outside of their own environment and culture, the school invites international guests as volunteer teachers to work with the children in a range of activities, such as art and craft, swimming, horticulture, music and singing.
At this stage, the school is really struggling financially as student numbers have not yet reached breakeven point. Our financial situation has reached a critical point.
The solution to this problem lies in completing as a minimum another 4 classrooms and toilets for the new school year at a cost of $1M, this will cater for the increase in immediate enrolments.
I’m not comfortable asking for help, it’s embarrassing to be honest but without your financial support the school will have to close and this will greatly affect the wonderful students.
