You may have seen Wandi's story as it travelled across the world. A miracle puppy Wandi was found in a rural Australian backyard after possibly being dropped by a bird of prey. DNA testing revealed that he is a pure dingo

.

Wandi is less than a year old but already the small dingo puppy is carrying the weight of his species on his shoulders. Dingoes are native to Australia but have had their numbers reduced by habitat destruction and hunting. The species is currently listed as "vulnerable" by the IUCN.

This fund is being set up to assist with the conservation of the species, including their protection in the wild, research, public education and policy development. This will ensure that the dingo is protected for many years to come in Australia. Unfortunately dingoes are persecuted in the wild and trapped, hunted or baited in many areas due to a perceived threat to livestock. We must protect this species to ensure that we do not lose this iconic Australian species.
