All kids love to play in the rain, but walking to school in the rainy season in Sierra Leone is a big deal. It's not pleasant spending a day in wet clothing. The rainy season stretches from about mid-May to mid-November, with July and August being the wettest months. Preparations for the onslaught of rain have already started, and in Freetown, at this time of the year, it's not uncommon to wake up to the sound of tin roofs clinking, loud reminders that the rainy season is about to begin.
With rainy season comes a whole new set of hurdles to overcome, especially for children who have to walk long distances to school. We want to keep our children dry and would like to provide our Fig Tree Children with rainwear (coat and shoes). For $25, you could keep a child dry this rainy season.
