Growing old is a life course that attracts different cultural attitudes across the world. In south sudan, an emerging area of health has set the pace for discussions on how to care for an ageing population. Peac, aged care, Health + Medicine editor ( I personaly Felt need, for our aged mothers, who were born in war, Grew up in War, Age  up in South Sudan or other side in war ( Great day ! Happy New Year and coming together as kakwa clan In Koboko Uganda).

KAKWA PEOPLE: AFRICAN NILOTIC WARRIOR TRIBE THAT BITES HARDER

The Kakwa people are sedentary agro-pastoralist and Nilotic people of Karo ethnic sub-group residing in the northwestern Uganda, South Sudan, and northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are part of the Karo people (East Africa), who also include the Bari, Pojulu Mundari, Kuku and Nyangwara. Their language is called Kutuk na Kakwa, Eastern Nilotic language. Kakwa people are known to the world especially through the history of their son, General Idi_Amin Dada, former president of Uganda

As Hunan Right Lawyer: I am challenges to see My homeland mothers at late age of 60s still surviving without any support.

I can define South Sudan as facing little ageing population. This is an unprecedented challenge. Should we be worried?

The little ageing population is a double reduced by ongoing crisis as  sword. It’s a cause for noncelebration as well as a reason for worry when our age people still struggle on their late 60s.

People are living longer globally. This is true  but not is in south sudan. Longer lifespans have been attributed to improved medical care, improved diet and nutrition, as well as general wellbeing but our aged one in south sudan, are suffering.

South Sudan should take example of Developed countries who have made great strides toward assuring the security for their older populations and legislated their rights. South Sudan in particularly  has made little effort and contributed to loss of our people before age of 50.

Yet south sudan most affected by poverty, conflict, environmental challenges as well as poor access to health care. All are critical for improving quality of life, especially for older people.

we need to sought for laws that ensures and look after the elderly by respecting their rights, eradicating poverty, and empowering them to participate in society.

What risks do older people face, like this kakwa clans in kokoko refugee camap? and in handling their healthcare needs?

The biggest risks facing are a lack of income security, inadequate health services, lack of employment and a deteriorating environment.

First, income security could be guaranteed through strong pension systems or state welfare schemes. South Sunan as rebulic have neither of these. In cases where they do exist, welfare and social security systems face serious challenges of sustainability,

Second, health care is critical. Older people face increased risk of non-communicable and degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular ailments, diabetes and kidney ailments and presure.

There are no prepared Health care systems in South Sudan  to attend to the increased demand for health care from older people, like our mothers from the photos above. This is true in both preventive and curative services.

At the same time, south sudan as  country is not  ill-prepared to provide long-term care for older people. Most don’t have comprehensive plans for long-term care at family, community and national level.

we need, south sudan to relies mainly on provisions of the constitution that guarantee the rights of all people. I dont know south sudan Laws, or Article that could  mandates the state to ensure the rights of older people to participate in the affairs of society, pursue their personal development, live in dignity and respect free from abuse and receive reasonable care and assistance from both the state and family.

South Sudan, has a lot to learn from developed nations and even middle-income countries, including South Africa. For example, south sudan could borrow from South Africa’s older persons’ care system that is sensitive to their cultural and personal needs like home safety, healthy nutrition and access to health care.

First, I peter WOULD ADVICE that south sudan needs to pass legislation that tackles the needs of older people. There also needs to be an implementation framework.

South Sudan also needs to move quickly into universal health care for older people. This should include long-term care, end term to war, end term for Guns and killing. And the state must invest in efforts to support long-term care. This includes research, planning, partnerships and subsided costs for care so that older people can access it for free.

And there is an urgent need to lessen the burdens on families, which is both unsustainable and impractical.

South Sudan must also invest in education and training for caregivers and medical staff to fill the gap of skills in the provision of specialised care for older people. This is particularly true when it comes to severe illnesses such as dementia, Presure, cancer, and so on. Happy New Year to To all My mother i show over this photo.

I love my mom and thank You giving me to her
