Today, right now, a Moon Bear is suffering.
Suffering from a catheter in it's belly, draining the bile from it's gall bladder.
Bear bile farming is a hideous and disgraceful practice of draining bile from
the gall bladders of Moon Bears, in China and Vietnam used as
an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine. These bears live lives of
suffering, degredation and fear, locked in cages only big enough to lie in, never
mind being able to move and play
Thankfully, an organisation named Animals Asia is fighting back - working with the
governments of both China and Vietnam, Animals Asia has freed hundreds of bears
from captivity and moved them to sanctuaries, where they can live as bears should -
free, happy and content. But their work is far from over.
This is where I come into the story.
I am an aspiring mountaineer who is heading to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko right here
in Australia, in order to raise both funds and much needed awareness for the plight
of these poor creatures.
I am currently asking for the sum of $300.00 AUD for Animals
Asia - if 30 people donate $15.00, we can achieve that goal, and in China and Vietnam,
a Moon Bear will have a better life - donations contribut towards medicine, food and clean
water, the construction of sanctuaries, veternarians to care for these bears, and
staff to maintain them. ALL funds donated go directly to Animals Asia - I
take ABSOLUTELY NO PROFIT from these donations.
I ask for $15.00 from you - the price of a few cups of coffee. That twenty dollars could mean the difference between life and death.
I thank you in advance for your support. I appreciate it, and so do the bears.
