This is a replacement for a baby shower and/or gifts. 100% of funds or help pledged is towards making my house functional to bring a bub home into. I am not asking for funds necessarily- any offers of skills, help, manpower or ability on the projects below (no matter how small) will be a huge help.
-I don't have a double income
-I don't have access to child support (i don't know where the father is)
-I don't have any access to paid maternity leave from my work
-Reducing from full time to part time is necessary as my work is on my feet, and I'm getting more tired, more swollen and am struggling physically
- Part-time income is enough to cover rent and bills, but nothing else
-Part time income is deemed high enough by centrelink that i largely won't be able to access much single parent support after the birth, other than 16 wks of parental leave.
-My real estate agents have categorically denied help in any house maintenance for 2.5 yrs
-I am borrowing everything i need for bub, and I am not getting any luxuries for me or bub, no maternity clothes, no toys, I'm just trying to prioritise a safe space for the early months.
-People have suggested i should move from my quiet, beautiful 3 bed country house into my mum's small 2 bed Sydney flat where 2 people already reside. I'd lose my job, lose my medical team, have to pay thousands to break my lease, lose my community and lose my sanity. I would be financially worse off.
The projects i need help with or funding towards:
-I don't have a washing machine. As a new mum I'll need one- help buying one, but also help picking it up and installing it
I need
- About 20 LED downlight globes in my house replaced and I'm not sure how
- 3 door locks replaced
- A security screen door on my front door
- My air-conditioners to be serviced (one has died) before the 45 degree Mudgee summer
- Help buying & putting shutters and curtains on 3 bare windows to keep the house cool and liveable for bub
- The hard rubbish in my backyard left from previous tenants to go to the tip.
- Help anchoring shelving to walls
- Help childproofing drawers, furniture and eventually help installing a couple of childproof gates.
- Help funding flights for my mum to come up for the birth and someone to drive her to the airport in Syd (her Parkinsons at the moment means she can't drive)
For those who are under the impression the landlord/ owner should help with maintenance, you are right, but in 2.5 years they haven't been able to help with anything. I had to fight for a year to get a key to the front door!
You can specify in your comments what you would like your donation to go towards (eg window coverings, washing machine, door locks) or message me with specific skills you might be able to offer in home maintenance.
I really appreciate you reading this and considering helping out Team Trott. I will use 100% of your offers towards your chosen project and I promise that your support will mean the world, both to me and a new baby who needs all the help it can get!
If i have offered you help, support, gifts or generosity in the past, I never ask for anything in return (as is my belief system). But i am now in quite a desperate situation on my own with a new life growing inside me, and have spent many nights crying in the worry that there's no way I can do many of these projects solo. Anything at all would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading xxx
I send you much love from overseas! I hope you have a good network of friends who can support you throughout the next years. All the best! K.
