The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is a charity that is close to our hearts here at Dental Excel Palmwoods. Fifteen years have passed since Daniel’s family began to raise awareness for the safety and prevention of abuse of Australia’s children.
Set up by Bruce and Denise Morcombe in 2005, two years after the abduction and tragic murder of their son Daniel as he waited for a bus on the Sunshine Coast, the Foundation is a legacy to Daniel. It has raised awareness and vital funds to support and educate vulnerable and abused children and their families.
The Foundation has delivered education to more than 260,000 students across Queensland and visited over 1000 schools and communities across Australia.
Daniel’s parents’ vision is a legacy that educates all children to take control of their personal safety. Today, the Foundation assists educators and parents through the development of child safety educational resources, helps communities become safer places for children and assists young victims of crime.
The main objectives of the Foundation remain strong:
1. To educate children regarding their personal safety (including abduction). 2. To assist victims of crime, particularly where crime involves children. 3. To remember Daniel with suitable child safety community awareness events. 4. To support the families of Missing Persons particularly where it involves children.
House for Daniel is an amazing project that is currently under construction in Palmwoods. The building will be the Sunshine Coast centre for the Foundation’s Walk Tall counselling service helping hundreds of children and their families recover from trauma each year.
Together we can help them complete this project. Find out more about the House for Daniel Counselling Centre at: https://housefordaniel.com.au/
This year, Dental Excel is supporting the Daniel Morcombe Foundation at its Palmwoods location and at our Beerwah, Wurtulla, Bracken Ridge and Caloundra practices. We invite our patients to join us to support the Foundation this year and in addition to this fundraising page, we are running a raffle at each of our practices.
