On the 26th of August I will walk from Stratham to Busselton to raise awareness on bullying in Australian schools. It is not only about raising awareness, we all know it happens. It is about giving young teenagers the tools to learn the impact of their words, not just the negative impact but the power of positive words. The money raised from my walk will go to Dolly's Dream.
Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett was a victim of bullying who ended her own life at the young age of 14. Dolly’s Dream is a vision established by her parents, Kate and Tick, along with family and friends in her memory.
Dolly's Dream aims to increase awareness of the serious issue of bullying and its devastating effects; work to prevent bullying; mitigate bullying, including cyber bullying, within schools; change the culture in the community to prevent bullying and to support the victims of bullying.
Dolly was so scared of going to school that she took the most precious thing she has; her own life. I believe that the funds raised from this walk will help make bullying a thing of the past, so no more teenagers have the same fate as Dolly.
