Deheisheh refugee camp was formed as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Its population is close to 13,000, yet its boundary is a mere 1 square kilometre. Many of its inhabitants are children whose lives have been uprooted.
We have decided to raise funds to provide kids aged between 6 and 15 a summer camp. The camp will feature a range of activities such as hikes, arts & crafts and games plus many more. We will also be camping out as well as providing food for the kids.
We originally approached Mahmoud at the Deheisheh refugee camp to see if we could volunteer, yet space was an issue for there are five of us. Mahmoud believed we could run a summer camp for the kids to negate the space issue as well as offer the kids something exciting. We had confirmed our residency, yet late last week Mahmoud regrettably informed us that their budget could not facilitate the camp. So, we suggested raising the funds ourselves and here we are.
Any donation is appreciated, even if it is $5. We hope by achieving our target that we can deliver such a simple gesture that will have a lasting impression.
