Tony is my 30yo son & he is legally blind his vision is 6/180. He is not able to go through guide dogs for his dog as he is very active & a lab or golden retriever is not going to keep up with him, he goes on runs & needs a dog that has the stamina to keep up with him. A lovely lady who breeds Tamarukes for assistance dogs that are shipped world wide has donated the dog to Tony but his training is $10,000. Being a Tamaruke this dog has the stamina to keep up with Tony & keep him safe, due to his very poor visionTony has been clipped by cars whilst crossing the road as he just has not seen them the last time he was hit it was crossing the road after getting himself a coffee not only did he get hurt by the car being bruised all down his side & his leg he also got scalded by the hot coffee, with the trained dog with him this would not have happened. Tony is very independant & has achieved so much in his life with the poor vision he has, he learnt Martial Arts & competed in full contact sparring in touraments against able body people with no disabilities & won he has many tropheys for this. He learnt massage at 16, he also study to become a chef & achieved this, he worked for many different resturants in Newcastle & then ran his own cafe on the Central Coast. He now runs his own Mixed Martial Arts Academy on the central Coast teaching children & adults self defence. Tony is not someone to ask for help due to his disability but right now he really needs it. His wife Kasi & him are having trouble raising the funds for the dogs training & they need help so Tony can go places by himself safely. he has named the dog Raf & Raf has been in training for a while now he is nearly ready for Tony but they need to pay for this training before he can have the dog, Raf will be a fully qualified & registered assistant dog for both vision & anxiety as Tony needs help with both.
