About
Most of you know that Ken has a Grade IV glioblastoma brain cancer.
There is no cure for this kind of cancer. He was diagnosed a year ago and has had surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
This standard treatment was fairly successful for him and his tumour has been stable for a few months. He does however have to take a daily dose of an anti-inflammatory drug called dexamethasone.
There are many adverse side-effects of this drug which he has to deal with. He has recently had to increase the dose of dexamethasone and his doctors have advised that he can instead take Avastin which will allow him to stop taking dexamethasone and give him a better quality of life.
This drug is not on the PBS so it is expensive. This is where you come in. We need to raise $20,000 for this drug. This amount is a one-off payment that will give Ken as much Avastin as he will need for the rest of his life. It will enable him to keep doing the things he loves.
(Two days later...as we have already reached our goal, all of the extra money will be donated to the Cure Brain Cancer foundation here in Australia. Thanks everyone!)
Hey Ken Sorry to hear you're under the weather, but hope that things turn around for you and your family. Take care, Mark Harvey (WAM)
