I am running The Great Wall Marathon (42.2km) on the 19th May 2018 for my Aunty Carole King.
I've never run a full marathon before and The Great Wall of China is meant to be one of the toughest in the world. Containing more than 20,000 unrelenting stone steps and some of the steepest elevations. This will be a challenge which I am going to have to work and train hard for but it is nothing compared to the challenges my amazing Aunty Carole had to face.
Carole was born in December 1956 and sadly passed away on 19th February 2018, following many battles with Cancer, which first started in 1998. She fought bravely for the last 14 months of her life against Pancreatic Cancer, one which she faced with great bravery and dignity.
Donations raised through this tribute fund will go directly to St John's at the Sue Ryder Foundation, to help ensure that other families can benefit from the amazing service they provide and to thank all of the staff at the St John's Hospice in Moggerhanger, for all their wonderful love and support shown to Carole and all the family whilst in their care.
Sue Ryder is a charity which was founded in 1953 by Sue Ryder, with the creation of a nursing home in Suffolk, UK. Sue Ryder supports people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses across the UK and internationally.
