Hi my name is Ryan Scown, in 2012 I was in a car accident. I was put in coma for 28 days. Fractured my back in 3 places from L3 to L5 and ended up with an ABI “acquired brain Injury”.
I had to learn everything again from scratch like walking, talking, eating etc. Its been one hell of a journey. I finished my rehab in May this year.
One year ago a dude at rehab said I should take up wheelchair Basketball because I can’t play the sports I used to play cause of the leg brace I wear. I said no because I couldn’t except my disability.
This year I have given wheelchair basketball ago and I wish I started playing last year.
Myself being 6”7 I need my own chair. For me to continue to improve in the sport I’m needing purchase my first wheelchair. To the expense of the new wheelchair I would greatly appreciate any funding to go towards it.
The funded money will goes towards my first new wheelchair. This will allow me to keep playing the sport I love also giving me chance to play a form of sport that I love.
For me to continue playing it means the world to me to be back in to some form of sport. The experience has been soo great and meeting people that can understand what you’ve been threw and can relate.
So my goal is to make the 2020 Para Olympics In Japan to play for The Australian Rollers. It’s a big goal but anything is possible in this life time.
Thanks for reading thanks soo much for any donations made means a lot.
Good luck. With your amazing attitude I don’t doubt we will see you at the 2020 para olympics!
