My younger brother, Matthew Hurrell, a proud Father, Son, Brother, Best friend and Soul Mate to Dominque
Matthew is dying from Metastatic Pleomorphic Sarcoma a very rare bone cancer. He is terminal under palliative care at home and fighting for more time with his Wife, Children and family.
The funds raise will be banked into Matthews Bank account and go toward daily essentials and create some stability within the home
We want to ease the financial stress on Matthew’s Family, no donation is too big or too small all we are asking for is $1 donation as it all adds up. IF we can get 50,000 people in Newcastle NSW to donate $1 this will gift the family and relief the current financial stress, as the stress is unimaginable
Matthew is real, the most placid, hardworking, grateful, unselfish person I know his best trait is his most precious possessions his children, they are his world and his children idolize him. Matthew has been unable to work and support his family since being diagnosed with Metastatic Pleomorphic Sarcoma
Matthew is young father age 39, of 5 beautiful children
The Youngest Dylan 18 months who suffers with cerebral palsy due to a stroke at birth, the result from a stressful pregnancy as Matthews wife Dominique was 5 months pregnant when Matthew was diagnosed in May 2015
At the same time of Dylan’s birth our younger sister Jessica 21 years old was in a ward downstairs at the same hospital dying from rejection of lungs from Cystic Fibrosis, we lost her just days after Dylan was born
Then we have Aleisha 3 years old, Candice 7 years old, Caleb 14 years old and Kirra 18 years old.
In May 2015 Matthew’s arm started to hurt so badly he was unable to move it or work, he thought it was from injury and scans and testing came back as positive for a cancerous tumor
Matthew was treated wonderfully by the Chris O'Brien cancer center in Sydney.
A wonderful Orthopedic Surgeon removed the tumor found in the top of his arm, and replaced his arm with an-orthopedic shoulder and bars, then scheduled for 6 rounds of the most aggressive chemo hospitalized for doses at the Chris O'Brien center scheduled every 4 weeks. Matthew unfortunately only completed only 4 as his body was unable to tolerate anymore, a huge scare of losing him, but we got him back.
We then had the miracle news that his Pet scan was clear, rejoice No More Cancer
Late one night 3 months after he called me as he thought a ball bearing had dislodged from the shoulder joint, he asked me to take him to the local hospital to check so not to disturb his wife and 5 children as it was very late in the evening when he found it. The tumor had grown back it felt like a little ball bearing solid. Matthew was hospitalized back in Royal Prince Alfred Sydney for the removal within the 2 weeks wait it had grown huge. Matt endured 4 weeks of intense radiation. Matthew then was advised that they needed some time to really study his sarcoma as it is so rare. After some time passing no success on any target drug, Matthew started a brief trial at St Vincent's Sydney, but only got 2 infusions as they said another tumor had started to form so he was removed from treatment, that was in March this year.
The tumors have spread throughout his lungs making it difficult for Matthew breathe
This takes a toll and breaks my heart, with the his children's comments
His 7 year old said out of nowhere “you know the rain forest, the trees make oxygen” (obviously learnt at school I guess ) “so dad just needs to live in a tree so he can breathe better”
From the bottom of my heart
Yours in hope, God Bless
