Part 2 (November 2019): Our gorgeous Chell is now 37 and is facing the fight of her life again. We found out in July that her cancer had returned. We were hoping not to have to add a ‘Part 2’ to this fundraiser, but given this diagnosis, Chell and her family need our support. Part 1 raised a phenomenal $35822 which helped to pay for medical costs, wages lost, accommodation and expenses in Sydney and the living expenses that continue to mount when you’re sick. Let’s see if we can lessen the gap between $35822 and $100000 to help Chell, Jeff & Connor cover the expenses of Part 2 of this journey.
Part 1 (April 2017): Our gorgeous Chell is 34 and about the face the fight of her life. She has been diagnosed with 'Pseudomyxoma Peritonei', an extremely rare (1 in 2 million) cancer which starts in the appendix.
Who would have thought that a suspected appendicitis could be something much more sinister? This diagnosis means our Chell requires life-saving surgery at RPA (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney) to remove the cancer (a major surgery in itself), followed by chemotherapy.
We'll save you all the gory details, but lets just say that almost every organ in Chell's abdominal cavity, as well as the abdominal lining will be removed, her belly will be filled with chemo with a chemotherapy regime to follow. This surgery alone means she will be in ICU followed by at least a 4 week hospital stay in Sydney to begin her recovery.
Chell's husband Jeff and their gorgeous son Connor will be by her side in Sydney to support her through this. This means uprooting their family from their country town of Wagga Wagga while ever Chell is in RPA. This means that Chell will not be earning a wage during this time where medical bills will continue to mount, as well as bills they're already committed to, plus living costs associated with being in Sydney.
In addition to Chell's medical costs, they already have significant costs raising their gorgeous son who was born at 32 weeks, and as a result, has many medical needs, including intensive therapy due to his diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and Autism.
Money will be used for:
* Medical expenses already incurred
* Medical expenses to come
* Hospital expenses (car parking and meals for family)
* Travel expenses (between Sydney & Wagga)
* Household expenses and bills, meaning Jeff can be off work and in Sydney with Chell to support her through this
* To help cover Connor's ongoing medical expenses including equipment and therapy while both parents are not working.
Chell is a Mum, wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunty, friend and a 'bloody good' nurse (HDU - High Dependency - Nurse & Cardiology Nurse) who has always given so much to others. She now needs YOUR help. Every donation will make a difference and be gratefully received.
On behalf of our Chell, we THANK YOU for your support xoxo
Thinking of you guys and sending our love xo
