I've been humbled to meet many amazing patients with alopecia areata through my work. I am always struck by the impact this condition has on ones sense of self. In a world that dictates to us how beauty should look, patients with AA remind me where true beauty and strength lies. Exciting advances in research have extended our understanding of the condition and have lead to the emergence of new therapeutic targets which are under development. However, more funding is needed! So I have decided to run a half-marathon to raise money and awareness for these unintentional warriors of inner-beauty! Any contribution, no matter how small, would be so valued!
