A Roof for Emfundweni School

# About Emfundweni Primary School
Emfundweni is a rural village school about 40 minutes drive from the major international tourist destination of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. In the local isiNdebele language, 'Emfundweni' is a place of learning. The school has about 170 students, 5 teachers and caters for children from early childhood through to year 7.

Like many other schools of this kind in the area, the resources it can access are basic and they are unable to source the funds required to undertake major repairs, such as replacing a classroom roof.

# What is my connection to Emfundweni Primary School?
I have been working with Sue Goatley from Children In The Wilderness (Zimbabwe & Zambia) for 3 years. We have raised funds for another local school, supporting the building of a children's playground, classrooms, and teacher accommodation. As a teacher educator, I also take small groups of beginning teachers on an international study tour to Victoria Falls, working with teachers and communities and learning about life in Zimbabwe. Emfundweni Primary School is one of the schools we visit. The video on this page includes the children and some of the Australian teacher education students singing and dancing together.

# How will my money get there?
All funds raised will be passed on to Children In The Wilderness, Zimbabwe,(http://www.childreninthewilderness.com/), and Children In The Wilderness will manage the purchase and delivery of the required building materials. Children In The Wilderness are the community and culture arm of Wilderness Safaris and are fully audited. In Sept/Oct 2017 I will be visiting Zimbabwe and Emfundweni Primary School, so will report on progress in person.
