Twin hope

James & Charlie are 11yr old twin boys who have a rare chromosome 2 deletion ,they are missing at least 4 genes that affect learning and behaviour ,they are developmentally about 3/4yrs old and have multiple and complex issues including autism ,sensory and anxiety problems and both are incontinent and have language delays ,life is confusing and difficult ,they have no boundaries and no sense of danger or consequences of their actions or behaviour .They are giant toddlers who either fight and scream all day or who work together to create chaos and mischief . Their wonderful adoptive mum Laura fought for 2yrs to keep them in the family ,their birth mum (Laura's half sister) has learning disabilities and lost custody when they were born in the UK .It has been a long hard struggle ,but Laura has graduated as an RN ,studying for 5yrs by Distance Education to provide for her family she has given up all her hopes and dreams to care for her children ,Nanna Mary has helped look after the boys but she is disabled with chronic Arthritis and needs her knees replaced .Mary and Laura have no help looking after the boys ,who travel 60kms twice a day to access a Special school ,there is no understanding of their condition in Australia and Laura has desperately worked & saved to relocate her family to the UK where her sister still lives ,where there are family and friends to provide support and wonderful schools and services that will give the boys lifelong help and support that is not available here but unfortunately Laura and Mary are now so physically and emotionally exhausted this goal is slipping away ,the boys are becoming harder to care for and with little or no respite this family is not sustainable ,the family is isolated ,and in crisis ,but although services have openly admitted the only hope is to relocate they are unable due to red tape to help and all that is needed is another $50,000 but it may as well be a million .This is our final hope ,we can no longer do this alone ,we need help .We miss our family and friends ,we worry about what will become of these little boys if we can no longer care for them and their future is bleak unless we can get them the services and resources they need for the rest of their lives .It no longer matters what we want its what we have to do as a family to survive and however traumatised we are at moving we no longer have a choice .
