A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's Disease which is a degenerative brain disease. And this was only 12 months after caring for my father for 3 years while he went through chemotherapy for lung and stomach cancer.

Parkinson's Disease has already had a negative impact on my life as i have had to give up my dream to be a commercial captain. My body becomes fatigued very quickly, i suffer orthostatic hypo-tension, stiffness and sore left shoulder and neck daily. Tics, twitches and involuntary body movements are becoming more prevalent, as well as some minor balance issues. I have bouts of depression, insomnia and anxiety, tremors as well as loss of fine motor skills on my left side, freezing of my left leg and loss of concentration to name a few of the most apparent symptoms.

Due to the fact that i spent a great deal of my own money supporting and caring for my father during his cancer fight i am now not in a position to raise the funds i need for Deep Brain Stimulation surgery for myself. The cost of the surgery is around $50,000 plus ongoing costs of up to $100,000. Should the procedure be successful i will need to return regularly to fine tune the battery embedded in my chest and every few years have it removed and replaced. These costs DO NOT include cost for ongoing medications and any other related expenses only for surgery and post operative care.
