Themelis 'Triki' Trikilis is a devoted partner and father of three young children. He is also one of the best mates a guy could ask for.
In May 2016, Themelis was diagnosed with an advanced stage of testicular cancer. After meeting every challenge of his 4-month chemotherapy and cancer treatment head on, Themelis and his family and friends awaited the results of his follow-up scans with a huge amount of hope and prayer.
An initial positive diagnosis soon gave way to something more sinister. The cancer had returned.
Specialists have advised immediate follow-up treatment - a highly aggressive 12-month treatment regime to be undertaken at Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Last week, Themelis, his partner Annette, son Kosta (3 years old) and 11-month old twins, John and Katarina, had to relocate from their home, extended family and support network in Darwin to Victoria.
This appeal aims to support Themelis and his family; helping to remove the financial burden so they can focus on achieving a healthy father and partner as soon as possible. All funds raised will go towards offsetting the costs and expenses as below:
• Non-covered/subsidised doctor and oncology specialist appointments
• Costs of any medications and specialist equipment not already covered/subsidised
• Cost of relocating the family to Melbourne for a 12-month period (airfares, accommodation and considerable cost of living expenses)
• Supporting mortgage repayments on their Darwin house while Themelis and Annette are unable to work.
The last 4 months have been an incredible emotional and financial strain on the family which has culminated in the latest diagnosis. A generous fundraising appeal coordinated by Themelis' local cricket club (PINT) was of considerable help to the family in the first few months following the initial diagnosis. The family however needs your support now more than ever.
Your support, regardless of the amount, will be hugely appreciated by the family.
Special mention needs to be made to the efforts of Anthony and Kerrie Harrison and their team of tradesmen at NT Home Improvements, Ash and Amy Norman, Jack Coady and the Coady family, Mark and Nerissa Calkin, John and Bernie Murphy, the PINT Club, Peter Mousellis, A1 Electrical, NT Roofing, U-Cart, Full Boar Plumbing NT, and many others, all of whom have been involved since day one.
