On November 5,hundreds of Aussies will pull on their runners and join the global walk to raise awareness and the millions of dollars needed for medical research into stomach cancer, now the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.
My family has been stricken by this awful disease by carrying a rare genetic mutation that significantly increases the risk of developing stomach cancer. As a result, it has taken the lives of both my Dad and uncle.
This year marks an important milestone for me as it’s the 5 year anniversary of my decision to surgically remove my stomach, which has saved my life.
