Courage for Clare

Our friend and colleague, Clare Vickery, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in January 2016. MND is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells - neurones - controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow undergo degeneration and die.

MND is a terminal disease, and there is no known cure and no effective treatment. The average life expectancy of MND sufferers after diagnosis is 27 months.

Clare has already had to stop working, and now uses a wheelchair most times she leaves the house. Clare, her husband Chris and their children Lexi, 5 and Josh, 4 have recently moved to Armidale where they can be closer to family, enjoy a smaller town and a beautiful, accessible home.

*COURAGE FOR CLARE*
A group of Clare’s friends have formed a committee organising various events, and this fundraising page, in order to raise money for Clare.

*WHY WE ARE RAISING MONEY*
We are going to do everything we can to help Clare’s family financially. Clare’s husband has now stopped work to care for Clare and look after their children. They will continue to be up for huge medical expenses, including trips back to Sydney to see specialists.

*HOW WE WILL RAISE MONEY*
We will be advertising a few fundraising events over the coming months, using this page to collect funds. You can also donate directly to Clare through this page.
