Cambodia is one of the world’s poorest nations with a high percentage of the population living in the rural areas.
Almost all of these rural families dream to own a cow but the reality is that at around $650US a cow, 80% of families will never be able to afford one.
Cows for Cambodia is a fundraiser set up by Andrew (Cosi) Costello and is essentially a “COW BANK”. Families are loaned a pregnant cow, they must look after it and when it has the baby they get to keep the baby and the cow is taken back. It’s more about providing an opportunity to break the poverty cycle rather than a direct handout. Each family signs a contract to ensure our cow is looked after and strict rules are followed to ensure the best outcomes for all parties.
We are excited to be joining Cosi with his charity, to visit and work with the families in November 2016, and have also committed to assist with fundraising.
