Meet Aeryn, she is 4yrs old & full of life! Aeryn also has Autism and other significant challenges to her daily life. Aeryn is the youngest daughter of Leigh and Jeremy and the sister to Imogen, Dominic and Nathaniel. Aeryn can't do the ordinary activities of daily living that others take for granted, we have great hopes that Aeryn will be able to function independently with the help of an Autism therapy dog.
Having an Autism therapy dog can dramatically enhance the quality of life for a child with Autism. We are working with Dogs For Kids with Disabilities (DKD), this is a not for profit organisation based in Victoria, Australia. Aeryn is currently on the waiting list for a very special and highly trained dog to help her with the issues she faces daily due to her Autism and other issues.
These special dogs costs over $25,000 to raise and train. The families are required to contribute to the cost of the dog via fundraising efforts. The impact each dog makes on the life of their recipient is priceless, giving recipients a greater level of independence, self esteem and an overall improvement in psychological well-being and quality of life.
