(Sunday 28 June) I am on my way in the morning. Thank you everyone for your support.
My name is Connor Ryan and I am a year 10 student at St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace in Brisbane. I am very passionate about civil rights and equality, and I have been fortunate to be invited to join a UN Youth Australia program and take part in the 2015 Aotearoa Leadership Tour.
This program is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, it will help me develop skills that have the potential to make positive contributions towards the issues of civil rights and equality. The Aotearoa Leadership Tour has two principal aims: to build awareness and understanding of the issues Indigenous peoples face at home and abroad; and to inspire young leaders and help them develop the necessary skills to take action on these issues in their communities. UN Youth Australia is a not for profit organisation that aims to increase youth awareness and participation in international issues and political processes. While they try to keep the costs at a minimum, the cost for me to participate in the program and tour will be $2300.
We are fortunate to be able to hold a fundraising movie afternoon at the Blue Room Cinemas in Rosalie on the 14th of June at 3.30. We will be showing Tommorrowland the new Disney Sci Fi with George Clooney.
I have also invited a number of elected representatives to assist and have received some much appreciated interest and support to date.
