We all seen on the news the devastating earthquake in Nepal in April, the again on in May. The death toll from the magnitude-7.8 quake and aftershocks has risen above 8,500, injuring 20,000 people and wrecking more than half a million houses. Bodies are still being pulled from the rubble.
This beautiful country and its people needed great help even before this Earthquake.. but now they are desperately need outside assistance as the earthquake turned many parts of this poor Himalayan nation into total ruin. Aftershocks are still shaking the nation and continuing to cause panic. At present, every day it is a matter of survival as the death toll rises..
Rescue efforts and help from big organizations that can be seen on TV news are non-existent in the rugged remote mountain villages. Local businesses are destroyed and people have no income. Trekking companies sending their own staff out to remote Himalayan villages to provide manpower and instant support, such as food, water, medicine, tents & other basic necessary things to the victims of the earthquake. They reported that the affected villages not received instant support as several weeks have passed.
People are in pain as there are no food, shelter, water & other basic necessary things to survive. There is a race to deliver aid before the monsoon season, when the current devastation could be even get worse from mudslides.
We had a call from the local Himalayan Trekking Company, Raj Bala Treks, that they need urgent help and we would like to ask You if you would contribute to the rescue efforts and emergency supports to the remote villages of Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Nuwakot, Dolakha and Okhaldhunga.
The local Nepalese trekking companies and other agencies are already doing an amazing job reaching villages in extreme remote areas but as they said:
“Due to our limited resources & budget, our help is not enough because number of victims are much higher. As time goes, more people will die because of lack water, food, medicine and tents and high risk of spreading diseases.”
Please donate for:
• temporary shelters ( tents)
• drinking water
• medicine
• rice, food
• transportation of goods
• clothes
• sanitation
This is a small cause with modest goals but it will provide immense relief to these people Each small contribution will add up saving lives.
Thank you very much.
We will keep you updated.
Warm regards: Alma
