About

Warrick Proudlove, a promising young WAFL footballer from Albany, was tragically involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in July 2011 whereby the car in which he was travelling as a passenger collided with a tree after hitting a horse. Suffering catastrophic head injuries, Warrick was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital and finally stabilised after weeks on life support in ICU and multiple surgeries including craniectomy to control the swelling on his brain.

After slow recovery, Warrick was transferred from the neurological unit to Brightwater high care facility in December 2011 where he continued to receive limited therapy. Finally, at the end of last year, after many months of home modifications, Warrick moved home to be with his father Kevin, mother Trish and brother and sister who relocated to Perth from Albany to be with him.

Unfortunately, the Western Australian legislative system for 3rd Party insurance is fault based meaning that Warrick and his family were not offered any compensation to assist in his ongoing care. All other Australian states work on a NO fault system and provide the means to aid those who suffer severe injuries as a consequence of vehicle accidents.

As one can imagine the ongoing costs of rehabilitation, quality care staff and equipment is phenomenal and the Proudies Foundation was established to assist Warrick and his family with providing him with the best possible chance of recovery. Having had the honour of working with Warrick and his family, their strength and determination is exemplary and inspirational however, Warrick and his family need your help to raise the vital funds so necessary to ensure he is given the best opportunity.

This is why we have decided to enter two events this coming May to try and raise some much needed funds for Warrick’s ongoing care.

On the 2nd May, Fran Endersby, Maidie Laidlaw and Emily O'Connell are going to be participating in the Busselton Half Ironman as a team (Maidie in the water, Fran on the bike and Emily covering the run).

On May 24th for the annual HBF Run for a Reason myself, Fran, Em and Ash Bradshaw are running the half marathon and 12km to help Warrick, Kevin, Trish, Mark and Alix by raising funds for the Proudies Foundation. Your support means the world to Warrick and his beautiful family and hopefully we can raise enough funds to perhaps slightly ease the financial burden.

SHOW YOUR STRENGTH and join the team, Run for Proudies !!!
