Tiare contracted a viral infection causing a rare neurological brain disease called Acute Neocrotizing Encephalopathy (ANE) after having a routine procedure to remove her tonsils and adenoids in 2016.
Although Tiare uses a wheelchair for mobility and has suffered brain and vision impairment - she won’t give up her dream of being able to walk and be the best version of herself - and neither will her wonderful parents, Tam and Josh.
Unfortunately though, this year the majority of Tiare’s NDIS funding ($38,000) was cut without reason. Denying her the regular and intensive treatment her therapists recommend she needs to maintain muscle strength and achieve mobility. It has also has put the brakes on her parents plan to get her game changing STEM cell therapy.
To support Tiaré’s wish I’ll be walking 200km over the remaining 10 weeks of Chemotherapy I’m receiving for Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
By focusing on a need greater than myself I believe it will give me the motivation to achieve my recommended walking/ exercise goals set for me by my oncologist.
Walking is crucial to my recovery as it not only gets the chemo pumping around the body, but also maintains cardiovascular health which can really decline during the chemo process.
Any donation, even spare change, is appreciated and will all help Tiare in this challenging year.
You are both inspirational women! All the best!
