Dear Friends, We are currently collecting funds to help cover costs of my recently diagnosed breast cancer. (Stage 2 triple negative ductal carcinoma).
On Wednesday March 6, I had a unilateral (left breast) mastectomy. The surgery done by Dr Cindy Mak and team at RPA Lifehouse went really well. Four weeks later rather than opting for chemo and radiotherapy I travelled to Japan for a treatment called AIET.
Autologous Immune Enhancement Therapy has been used for two decades in Japan with great results as a treatment for cancer and other illnesses. The immune cells are taken from the patient’s body, cultured and processed to activate them until their resistance to cancer is strengthened. Returned to the body, the cells, antibodies and organs of the immune system then work to protect and defend the body against not only tumour cells but also bacteria and viruses.
I completed the treatment over a period of three weeks and have since returned to Sydney.
This plan was arrived at with the help of cancer researcher and consultant, Grace Gawler, who for many years has been helping people find the best medical solutions for their particular cancer situations. If you would like to know more about AIET or Grace's work, drop me a line and I can put you in touch with her.
Tests done at the end of the treatment showed my tumour markers at normal and my level of NK cells improved. Given my immune system was shown to be very low when I arrived, this is a great result.
In the coming months we will continue to monitor my bloods with testing done by Genomics for Life lab in Brisbane. The N2 Clinic in Tokyo has stored some of my cells and it’s likely I will go back in Feb/Mar 2025 for a top up.
Of course all of this is quite expensive and your donations have helped immensely. Thanks to you, we have covered most of the costs of the Japan treatment and are keeping the fundraiser going a bit longer to help pay for ongoing testing, supplements and post cancer therapies. Please feel free to share among your networks.
Your reward?
A free ticket to my next one woman show! The rate we are going we'll have to hire the Opera House!
